A reminder - this Friday’s Dallas Stars game (March 2) at Edmonton will be shown on FOX Sports Southwest Plus. The Stars game will available on FSSW+ in markets carrying Mavericks, Spurs and Rockets games that night on FOX Sports Southwest and FOX Sports Houston. FIVE THINGS TO WATCH:

1. The Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers meet for their third contest of the season. Dallas has won the previous two games in the series outscoring the Oilers 8-2. The Stars have earned a point in ten of their last 11 games against them earning an 8-1-2 record in that span.

2.
Dallas enters Friday’s contest riding a five-game point streak (4-0-1). In that five game span, Dallas has outscored the opposition 16-7 and have jumped from 10th in the Western Conference to the eighth and final playoff spot.

The Stars have not lost a game in regulation this season against teams from Canada (6-0-1). They have also won eight of 11 games against Northwest Division opponents posting an 8-3-0 record.

Friday’s game features two of the top-five highest goal scoring 2007 draft picks. Sam Gagne (EDM) is second with 73 goals in 347 games played, while Jamie Benn (DAL) is fifth with 62 goals in 204 games played. Benn returned to action last night scoring a goal after missing the previous six games with a lower body injury.

The Stars concluded the month of February with an 8-5-3 record (16 GP), good for 19 points in the standings. They also inched closer to a playoff berth jumping from ninth in the West to eighth in the span of a month. Last February, the Stars went 3-8-1 and dropped from third in the Conference to sixth.
 


WHO TO WATCH:

MIKE RIBEIRO
is currently on an eight-game point streak (3-8-11). It’s the third longest active streak in the NHL behind Jason Spezza (OTT, 10 games) and Eric Staal (CAR, 9 games). It’s also the longest point streak any Dallas Star has earned this season. He has points in nine of his last 10 games against the Oilers (4-9-13).

LOUI ERIKSSON
has a three-game point streak against the Edmonton Oilers (1-4-5). The Stars have only lost one game when Eriksson records a point against Edmonton, earning an 8-0-1 record in those contests.

SHELDON SOURAY
is making his first trip to Edmonton since signing with the Stars. Souray ranks second among Dallas defensemen with six goals and leads all Dallas blue-liners with a plus-14 rating this season.
