FIVE THINGS TO WATCH:

1. The Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames meet up for their third contest of the season series on Saturday afternoon. Dallas has a 2-0-0 record having won both games in overtime or shootout. A win tomorrow will improve the Stars’ all-time record against the Flames to above .500.

2.
The Dallas Stars are tied with the Chicago Blackhawks for having the most players with 55-or-more points on the season (four). Loui Eriksson, Michael Ryder, Jamie Benn and Mike RIbeiro have each eclipsed 55 points while Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews from Chicago have also reached the 55-point mark.

3.
The Stars and Flames are set to play a home-and-home series on Saturday in Dallas and Monday in Calgary. It will be Dallas’ third home-and-home of the season and their first against the Flames since the 2000-01 season. Dallas and Calgary are separated by two points in the standings.

4.
Saturday’s game features the two winningest Finnish-born goaltenders in NHL history. Mikka Kiprusoff (Calgary) is first with 309 wins, while Kari Lehtonen (Dallas) is second with 164 wins. Both goaltenders enter Saturday’s game with an identical career save percentage (.914).

5.
During the entire 2011-12 NHL season, the Dallas Stars have worn a “37” sticker on their helmets to honor former Star Karlis Skrastins, who was involved in the tragic Russian airplane accident late last summer. On Saturday, the Stars organization will honor Skrastins in a pre-game ceremony. Karlis’ wife, Zane (pronounced Za-neyh), and three daughters (Karolina, Laurena, and Viviana) will be at the pre-game ceremony to drop the puck at center ice.

WHO TO WATCH:

MICHAEL RYDER
leads all Dallas Stars with 32 goals. Since the All-Star Break, Ryder has scored 15 goals – the only players that have earned more goals in that same span of time are Evgeni Malkin (PIT, 19g) and Steven Stamkos (TBL, 18g). Jarome Iginla (CGY) is tied for fifth on that list with 13 goals.

MIKE RIBEIRO
has earned a point in seven consecutive games against the Calgary Flames (6-7-13).

LOUI ERIKSSON
is the only player in the NHL that has at least a +20 rating and under 16 penalty minutes this season.
