Stars Sign Matej Stransky To Entry-Level Contract
Matej Stransky
Frisco, Texas - The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed forward Matej (Mah-tay) Stransky to a three-year entry-level contract. Stransky, 18, was Dallas' sixth-round selection (No. 165 overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Matej," Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk said. "His development with Saskatoon over the last two seasons is an encouraging sign of a player who we think has a successful future with the Stars organization."
The 6-3, 201-pound right wing from Ostrava, Czech Republic spent the last two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL). During the 2011-12 campaign, Stransky led Saskatoon in goals (39), assists (42), points (81) and power play goals (14).  In 141 career games with the Blades, Stransky has posted 107 points (53 goals, 54 assists) with a +19 rating.
The Dallas Stars will faceoff against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday at American Airlines Center (7:30 p.m. CT, TV: FOX Sports Southwest, Radio: 1310 The Ticket).
