2012 NHL Entry Draft Commences Friday, Stars Pick 13th
Stars set for draft with 13th overall pick
Frisco, TX -- The Dallas Stars will have the 13th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, which will be held this weekend (June 22-23) at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The Edmonton Oilers won the Drawing Lottery in early April, giving them the number-one overall pick in this year’s draft (moving up from the 2nd spot).
The first round of the Draft will take place on Friday, June 22 and will be televised on NBC Sports Network at 6 p.m. (CT). Rounds two through seven will take place on Saturday, June 23.
Recent first-round selections include defenseman Jamie Oleksiak with the 14th pick in 2011, goaltender Jack Campbell with the 11th pick in 2010 and forward Scott Glennie with the eighth overall selection in 2009. It will be the Stars’ fourth time in franchise history to select at no. 13 and the first since 1984 when they picked David Quinn.
