A letter to the fans from Owner Tom Gaglardi
Despite the recent labor dispute, Owner Tom Gaglardi shares his optimism about 2012-13
Dear Stars Fans,
As I am sure you have read over the weekend, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association were unable to successfully negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement before the expiration of the previous deal. We are hopeful that there will be a positive and quick resolution that will get hockey back on the ice as soon as possible.
In the interim, we will continue to do everything we can to bolster this franchise and be ready to compete for the Stanley Cup.
Our roster for this season is a blend of established NHL stars and dynamic veteran playmakers, combined with an exciting core of young talent that will have us in the thick of the Western Conference race. We also have a deep and talented farm system preparing our young Stars for their debut at the NHL level. The future of the Dallas Stars is very promising.
I believe that we significantly improved our team this off-season. With some of the key additions via trade and free agency, I am confident that our top six forwards will be among the finest in the NHL, and our special teams will receive a major boost. We have solidified our goaltending position for the foreseeable future and we will have the necessary depth and talent across the board to compete with the league’s best teams.
Since I purchased the team in November 2011, I have made it my goal to strengthen our front office. With the leadership of President and CEO Jim Lites and General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk, the organization is working its way toward stability and excellence. In addition, we have retained Bob Gainey to help re-build this franchise and have added proven veterans throughout our coaching and scouting staffs.
We continue to address many elements of the fan experience at American Airlines Center, specifically making Stars games more affordable and fun for all. We lowered ticket prices across the board and we will be offering more value, flexibility and entertainment through many promotional initiatives once we begin play.
We appreciate our fans and your continued commitment to the Stars. We ask for your patience as the owners and players work toward a new agreement that is mutually beneficial to the future of hockey and the Dallas Stars.
