The Texas Stars continued to rack up points on their road trip over the past week, winning three of four games (3-1-0-0). The Stars are 4-1-0-0 in the first five games of their six-game trip, and are 7-2-1-0 in their last ten games overall.
Just past the quarter point of the season, the Stars are 10-8-1-1. They are ninth in the AHL’s Western Conference based on points and eighth based on points percentage.
Dallas Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk watched the Texas Stars play in Grand Rapids, Michigan over the weekend and offered this assessment of the team during an intermission interview on the Texas Stars radio broadcast on Saturday.
“We’re a work in progress. We’ve got a lot of young players. We have two first-year goaltenders and a lot of first-year players up front,” Nieuwendyk said. “It takes time to put it all together. These guys are learning how to play in a very tough league. It’s an extremely tough league with a lot of NHL players that are playing down here.”
