Stars announce hiring of Modano, Recchi and Turco

The Dallas Stars made some key additions to the organization Thursday, bringing Mike Modano on as an executive adviser and alternate governor, adding Mark Recchi as an adviser to hockey operations and hiring Marty Turco as an analyst to the team’s television broadcasts.

Thursday’s hiring announcements at American Airlines Center came as the team launched its 20th anniversary celebration.

The addition of Modano was Thursday’s big attraction. He’s the greatest player in franchise history, holds most of the franchise’s offensive records, and now he is back with the organization.

“We had to get Mike Modano to the Dallas Stars,” said Stars owner Tom Gaglardi. “He’s the Wayne Gretzky of Dallas. He’s the Wayne Gretzky of U.S. hockey. I’m so elated that Mike is coming on board. I don’t think we can be successful in this market without Mike being a part of it.”
