Dallas Stars - Dallas Stars announce roster moves

The Dallas Stars announced a series of roster moves today. The club activated forward Derek Roy, and goaltender Cris Nilstorp from Injured Reserve, and assigned Nilstorp as well as defenseman Jordie Benn to the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Roy, 29, returns to the lineup tonight at Colorado (8 p.m. CT on NBC Sports Network and 1310 The Ticket) after missing the previous five games with a groin injury. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound center has skated in four games for Dallas this season, registering two points (both assists) and a plus-1 rating. He also leads the team with a 53.3% faceoff efficiency. Prior to being acquired by Dallas on July 2, 2012, Roy spent nine seasons with the Buffalo Sabres' organization where he earned more assists (266), played more games (549), and earned the third-most goals (161) and points of anyone on the Sabres since 2001. He was Buffalo's second-round selection (32nd overall) in 2001.

Benn, 25, has zero points, four penalty minutes and seven shots in eight games for Dallas this season. He returns to Texas ranking second among defensemen in scoring with 17 points (7G-10A) and leads the defense corps with five power play goals in 34 games for the AHL affiliate. The native of Victoria, B.C. went undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2011.

Nilstorp, 28, missed the last four games with a groin injury. He has skated in two games for Dallas this season and has an 0-2-0 record with a .918 save percentage (SV%) and a 2.70 goals-against average (GAA). The Malmo, Sweden native made his NHL debut on Jan. 20 against Minnesota stopping 31-of-32 shots in 59 minutes of play. Prior to being recalled by Dallas, Nilstorp appeared in 28 games for Texas where he earned a 16-10-0 record with a 2.13 GAA, .916 SV% and four shutouts. Nilstorp went undrafted and was signed by Dallas as a free agent on June 5, 2012.
