Sunday practice update: Gulutzan talks Roussel decision

After taking Saturday off, the Dallas Stars were back on the ice in Frisco Sunday morning for a full practice.

“We got a full practice in with some power play in it,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “We’ll try to ramp up the tempo even a little higher tomorrow, and decrease some of the duration as we get ready to go to Edmonton.”

The Stars play at Edmonton Tuesday, kicking off a three-game road trip that will see them play at Calgary on Wednesday and then finish the trip off in Vancouver on Friday.

Right wing Michael Ryder did not skate Sunday.

“He needed another maintenance day here,” Gulutzan said. “We fully expect him to be ready to go on Tuesday.”

Tom Wandell took Ryder’s place on a line with Loui Eriksson and Derek Roy during Sunday’s practice.

With Antoine Roussel sent back to the AHL, Ryan Garbutt took Roussel’s spot on a line with Eric Nystrom and Vernon Fiddler.

Gulutzan was asked about the decision to send Roussel back to the Texas Stars.
