Quick Recap: Stars 4, Oilers 1

The Dallas Stars made it four straight wins, defeating the Edmonton Oilers, 4-1, Tuesday night at Rexall Place. Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves for the Stars, who have won three straight on the road and are 5-1-0 over their last six games. Brenden Dillon, Eric Nystrom, Jaromir Jagr and Ryan Garbutt scored goals for the Stars, who improved to 7-5-1 on the season.

Lehtonen stellar

Kari Lehtonen would probably want to have the one goal he allowed in the game back, but other than that he was rock solid. He came up huge in the second period, when the Oilers outshot the Stars 16-9 but the Stars outscored Edmonton 1-0. He had great stops on Jeff Petry, Sam Gagner and Jordan Eberle in the period. Lehtonen has won his last five starts with a 1.77 goals against average and .940 save percentage.

Stars’ PK comes up big

The Stars penalty kill came up big in the game, going 5-5 against the potent Edmonton power play. Lehtonen was a big part of the PK, stopping 10 Edmonton power play shots. The Stars’ penalty kill is 42-46 (91.3%) on the road this season.
