Monday update: Jamie Benn has wrist injury, status for Tuesday up in the air

Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn didn’t practice Monday due to a wrist injury and his status for Tuesdays’ game against the Nashville Predators is up in the air. Benn said he was not injured when he was hit late Saturday’s game by Phoenix center Martin Hanzal.

“The wrist was a whole separate play, it had nothing to do with the hit,” said Benn. “The wrist is a little sore today. I took the day off, got a little treatment done. I’ll skate tomorrow and see how it feels.”

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said x-rays on Benn’s wrist showed that it was not broken. Gulutzan also said Benn did not suffer any injuries, including any concussion issues, from the Hanzal hit.

As for the Hanzal hit, Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk said the league saw it as legal.
