A Fight Fans Won\'t Want to Miss

Tonight, the Dallas Stars and the Calgary Flames will take part in a massive fight that fans can join in on. Not a fight on the ice, but against cancer

It is the Dallas Stars’ official Hockey Fights Cancer Night presented by UT Southwestern Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center. Fans will be able to support the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative and encourage those who have been affected by the disease by texting “LLSNTX” to 80077 to donate 10 dollars to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, amongst many other ways.

Other in-game elements will keep with the lavender theme, such as updates with the running total amount that Stars fans have raised for LLS throughout the evening.

Stars players will be warming up with sticks wrapped in lavender tape. Fans will then get a chance to bid on the sticks at the Foundation table during the game.

During the 3rd period, the Dallas Stars Foundation will award a $10,000 grant to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on behalf of Hockey Fights Cancer. The Stars have also invited the family of Matt McKee to receive the check alongside LLS. McKee was a treasured member of the Stars family, who lost his battle against cancer in 2008.

Hockey Fights Cancer was established over 15 years ago by the NHL and NHLPA as a way for the hockey community to come together to raise money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and care. To promote the HFC initiative, each of the 30 NHL teams has dedicated one night as “Hockey Fights Cancer” Awareness Night.

This is the night for Stars fans to team up and fight the disease that affects so many individuals in the hockey family.

We hope to see everyone at the AAC in their lavender attire!
