Quick Recap: Stars 5, Avalanche 2

The Dallas Stars moved into eighth place in the Western Conference with a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Saturday night at American Airlines Center. Five different Dallas players scored goals – Derek Roy, Jordie Benn, Erik Nystrom, Cody Eakin and Jaromir Jagr. Jamie Benn had three assists in the game. Kari Lehtonen stopped 33 of 35 shots. The Stars, who won for the third time in the last four games, improved to 15-13-3 on the season.

Stars move into top eight

With both San Jose and Columbus losing Saturday, the Stars jumped from tenth in the Western Conference to eighth. They hold a one point lead over the Sharks, Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators.
