Quick Recap: Stars 2, Sharks 1

The Dallas Stars moved into eighth place in the Western Conference with a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks Saturday night at American Airlines Center. The Stars, who won their fifth straight game, tied Detroit at 45 points, but hold the regulation/overtime wins tiebreaker. Eric Nystrom and Alex Chiasson scored for the Stars. Richard Bachman stopped 31 of 32 shots to win his third straight decision.

Bachman stellar again

Stars goaltender Richard Bachman turned in another stellar performance, stopping 31 of 32 shots. Bachman has stopped 79 of 82 shots over his last three appearances, all of them victories.

Another quick start for Stars

The Stars got off to another quick start on the scoreboard Saturday, scoring two twice in the first seven minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Eric Nystrom scored on a two-on-rush with Erik Cole to put the Stars ahead 1-0 at the 1:57 mark of the first. Alex Chiasson scored tipped in a Ray Whitney shot with the Stars on the power play to make it a 2-0 at the 7:00 mark of the first.
