Texas Stars eliminated from playoffs with 5-1 loss to Oklahoma City

The Texas Stars are out of the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs. The Oklahoma City Barons finished off the Stars in the Western Conference Semifinals Thursday night, defeating Texas 5-1 at Cox Convention Center to take the series 4-1.

The Stars, who were the top team in the Western Conference during the regular season and the South Division champions, were outscored 16-4 by the Barons over the final three games of the series.

Oklahoma City will move onto the Western Conference Finals to take on either Grand Rapids or Toronto.

The Stars had a 12-8 shots advantage in the first period, but the Barons scored the only goal of the first 20 minutes. It came with 2:39 left when Teemu Hartikainen scored off a shot from just below the left faceoff circle.
