About the Stars

The Stars (1-1-0) haven’t played since Saturday, when they defeated the Washington Capitals, 2-1, at American Airlines Center.

“I thought the effort was really good,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said of the win over Washington. “Some guys relaxed and made a lot better plays than they did in the first game. We had some great opportunities that we let slip away to really put the game away, but when the game was on the line we did a really good job of defending and not giving up anything big.”

The Stars are expected to have a new look with their forward lines as Rich Peverley has been practicing at right wing on the top line with center Tyler Seguin and left wing Jamie Benn.

“I like the balance on the lines,” said Ruff. “We have a little bit of size and good speed on all the lines.”

Injuries: D Aaron Rome (hip) is out.

About the Jets

The Jets (2-2-0) lost their second straight game, falling 2-1 at Minnesota Thursday night. The Jets were outshot 30-15 in the game.

“It's some of the same stuff we've talked about, mostly faceoffs. We never start with the puck,” Winnipeg coach Claude Noel said. “We chased pretty much the whole night and never created very much through the neutral zone.”

The Jets lost 45 of 61 faceoffs in the game.

“We don't start with [the puck], so we're always checking, we're always chasing it down,” Noel said. “You can see our puck possession game isn't great.”

Friday’s game opens a six game homestand for the Jets.

Injuries: F Chris Thorburn (lower body) is questionable.
