Stars-Senators Preview

Dallas Stars at Ottawa Senators
Sunday, November 3
Noon
TV: Fox Sports Southwest
Radio: The Ticket 1310 AM/96.7 FM

About the Stars

The Stars (5-6-2) are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado at American Airlines Center on Friday. The Stars were down 2-0 after two periods, but rallied to tie the game in the third to pick up a point.

“We had a bad start tonight and it kind of cost us,” said Stars captain Jamie Benn. “I thought we did a pretty good job battling back. … Whenever you can (rally in the third) for a point, it is big. But we still have a lot of work to do.”

Sunday’s game will kick off a three game road trip for the Stars. Dallas is 2-5-0 on the road this season.

“It’s one game at a time,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “Ideally we’d like to get two out of three, but that’s a tough task, a couple of tough buildings. Boston (Tuesday) is a tough building. Detroit (Thursday) isn’t easy either. The team that is struggling a little bit is Ottawa. But we’ve got to do our part. Our road record has to be better.”

Kari Lehtonen is the likely starter for the Stars.

Forward Ryan Garbutt is eligible to return Sunday after serving a five game suspension for charging Anaheim’s Dustin Penner.

Injuries: None

About the Senators

The Senators (4-6-3) are coming off a 5-4 shootout loss to the New York Islanders in Ottawa on Friday. It was the fourth straight loss for the Senators (0-3-1), who squandered 2-0 and 4-2 leads in the game and allowed 57 shots on goal.

“I don't know what the answer is (to turn this around),” Senators goaltender Robin Lehner, who made 53 saves, said according to the Ottawa Sun. “We're trying. I'm not a hockey coach. I don't know. It just feels like we're trying and we're good for five minutes and then we break down and then we have a few awful minutes. I don't know. It's not good enough.”

Excluding goals awarded for shootout wins, the Senators have allowed 15 goals over the last three games.

Craig Anderson will start in goal Sunday vs. the Stars.

The Senators recalled defenseman Mark Borowiecki from Binghamton of the AHL on Saturday.

Injuries: RW Erik Condra (leg) is out.
