Stars-Flames Morning Skate
The Dallas Stars didn’t skate this morning in Calgary since they played last night in Edmonton. There’s no official word on a starting goaltender for the Stars, but after last night’s 3-0 victory over the Oilers coach Lindy Ruff appeared to be leaning towards Kari Lehtonen making an 11th straight start.
Lehtonen has started ten straight games since returning from a lower body injury, and the Stars are 6-2-2 during that stretch. Lehtonen’s been a rock on the road, posting a 6-1-0 record, 1.91 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.
There’s no word on any lineup changes, but Ruff usually doesn’t change things up after a win and he hasn’t shown much of an inclination to put in fresh legs on the second night of a back-to-back, so the Stars could go with the same lineup tonight.
This is the Stars’ fourth back-to-back set this season. They are 0-3-0 in second games. Here’s how they’ve fared this season in second games of back-to-backs.
Oct. 12: Lost 5-1 at Minnesota
Oct. 20: Lost 6-3 at Anaheim
Oct. 29: Lost 2-1 at Montreal
The Stars are 4-20-2 in second games of back-to-backs dating back to the 2011-12 season.
Calgary comes into tonight’s game on a four-game losing streak (0-3-1). They’ve been outscored 6-1 in the first period during that stretch and coach Bob Hartley is looking for a stronger start from his team tonight.
"I told them, 'We're starting at 7:00 p.m. (local time),'" Hartley said. "It's just about getting the taste of winning back. That's the easiest way to look at it right now.
"We're proud, we're working hard. I felt in the last three, four games, we kind of flirted with wins but we have to set our goal straight, right from the get-go ... we did it in the past and we can still do it."
Reto Berra will get the start in goal for Calgary.
