Seguin Day-to-day With Concussion-like Symptoms
It turns out there was more than a muscle issue troubling Stars center Tyler Seguin. Just prior to Sunday’s game against Edmonton, the Stars announced that Seguin was out with concussion-like symptoms.
Seguin suffered the injury in Friday’s 2-1 shootout loss to Chicago. Stars coach Lindy Ruff said that Seguin is day to day.
“Earlier in the week he had a little bit of a muscle strain that we kept him off the ice for. These two incidents aren’t related,” Ruff said. “It was just a hit that didn’t seem like too much, but just caught him right and he wasn’t feeling good the next morning.”
“We went through the (concussion) protocol this morning with our doctor coming in and doing the testing on him and ruling him out. As soon as he feels better, can exercise and the symptoms go away, he’ll be back getting ready to play.”
Ruff said that Seguin will travel with the Stars as they head out on the road this week for games at Chicago (Tuesday) and Toronto (Thursday).
Oleksiak gets the nod on defense
Oleksiak, called up from Texas of the AHL on Saturday, was paired with Brenden Dillon. He played 18:38 in the game, had three hits and two blocked shots.
“He was good,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “Like I said this morning, I thought we could use him against some of their speed guys and their skill guys, and I thought he did a nice job.”
