Stars-Canucks Preview
Previewing Thursday night\'s tilt between the Dallas Stars and Vancouver Canucks.

Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars
Thursday, December 19
7:30 p.m.
TV: Fox Sports Southwest
Radio: The Ticket 1310 AM/96.7 FM

About the Stars

The Stars (16-12-5) are coming off a 3-2 victory over Colorado at American Airlines Center on Tuesday. The Stars overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits in the game. Colton Sceviour scored the game-winner with 2:52 remaining in regulation for the Stars, who bounced back from Monday’s 6-2 loss to the Avalanche in Denver.

“To come back here the next day and get a chance against that same team is always a good feeling as a player and we knew if we played our style of play we could come back and beat them,” said Sceviour. “We played our game tonight, maybe we were down a couple of times, but we kept it to one and battled our way back and got a big win.”

Ray Whitney snapped a 13-game goal scoring drought with two goals. Dan Ellis, who stopped 25 shots, has won his last three starts and is 4-0-0 at home.

The Stars signed D Maxime Fortunus of the Texas Stars to a one-year contract on Wednesday, and assigned D Jamie Oleksiak to Texas.

Injuries: C Vernon Fiddler (upper body) is questionable. D Aaron Rome (lower body), D Trevor Daley (ankle) and D Stephane Robidas (leg) are out.

About the Canucks

The Canucks (20-10-6) had a seven-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 shootout loss at Minnesota on Tuesday. Vancouver was up 1-0 and 2-1 in the game, but could never extend the lead.

"We need to get the next [goal]. We've been getting the next one and we didn't tonight," Canucks coach John Tortorella said.

The Canucks have lost their last three shootouts and fell to 1-4 in shootouts this season.

"We [stink] in the shootout. Yeah, we do. We’ve got to try different people I guess because we stink at it," Tortorella said.

The Canucks lost defenseman Ryan Stanton in the second period of the game to an ankle injury. He flew back to Vancouver and is out for Thursday.

Thursday’s game in Dallas is the second of a three-game road trip for the Canucks. They wrap it up Friday in Chicago.

Injuries: F Alex Burrows (jaw), D Alex Edler (lower body), F Jordan Schroeder (ankle) and D Ryan Stanton (ankle) are out.
