Gonchar Leaves Game After Taking Puck to Face
The Dallas Stars have lost yet another defenseman. Sergei Gonchar left Saturday night’s game in San Jose after getting hit in the head with a puck.
It happened 12 minutes into the second period. As Gonchar was trying to clear Sharks forward Joe Pavelski from the front of the net, a shot from San Jose defenseman Justin Braun hit Gonchar in the head. The Stars defenseman left the game and did not return.
“He’s alright,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “He just took that puck to the face and isn’t feeling well, so he has to stay out for a while probably.”
The Stars do have an extra defenseman on the roster in Maxime Fortunus, who was signed to a one-year contract and added to the roster earlier in the week.

"I think we could have won it in the second. Just put the game away. We had them right where we wanted them and we probably had five or six Grade-A opportunities to get the third one. I think it's going to be tough to make that battle and we didn't quite put the foot on the head of the snake."
