Stars forward Alex Chiasson missed his second straight game due to illness. Chiasson took part in Friday morning’s skate at American Airlines Center and it looked like he might be ready to play, but he still wasn’t feeling well enough to go Friday night.

“He’s lost a lot of weight and he felt weak after the skate,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “The plan was to try to get him in, but he just felt he couldn’t go.”

Chiasson missed Monday’s game in Los Angeles as well.

Defenseman Aaron Rome returned to the lineup after missing four games with a hip injury. Rome played 16:59 Friday night. He had no points, was a plus-two and blocked three shots.

The Stars placed defenseman Sergei Gonchar, who missed his second straight game with concussion-like symptoms, on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 21.

Quotable: Erik Cole on Kari Lehtonen

“His preparation and how he goes about his day inside the rink is pretty impressive. He’s got a routine, and he sticks to it. He’s not one that sits around and chats with the guys. He gets his work in and is focused on a daily basis. It’s no surprise really from our standpoint. We see how committed he is to do work every day. I know he had a little bit of a tough stretch where he wasn’t happy with his game, but at the same time we weren’t playing that great in front of him. I think there has been numerous times when we’ve needed a save, and he’s been there for us, and he just continues to impress us. “
