Some Dallas Stars prospects were on the move over the past week as trade deadlines came in Canadian juniors.

Some Dallas Stars prospects were on the move over the past week as trade deadlines came in Canadian juniors.

The Kitchener Rangers traded center Radek Faksa (first round/2012) to the Sudbury Wolves within the Ontario Hockey League. For Faksa, it means going from a last place team to one of the top teams in the league in Sudbury and a chance for a good playoff run in the OHL.

“I'm glad to be with a good team,” Faksa told the Sudbury Star. “I think we can do big things.”

Faksa has one goal and two assists in his first three games with Sudbury. He received some high praise from his new coach after his first game with the team.

“I thought he was the best player on the ice,” Sudbury coach Paul Fixter, a former associate coach with Kitchener, told the Star. “He controlled the puck, he worked hard in the corners, he was a force. That's what he does and that's why he's a first-round pick.

“He sets up his teammates well. ... He's a 200-foot player, you see him on the penalty kill, he blocks shots – that kind of thing rubs off.”

Center Gemel Smith (fourth round/2012) was on the move within in the OHL, as well. Owen Sound traded Smith to the London Knights. Smith goes to one of the top organizations in junior hockey and will get a chance to play at the Memorial Cup, since London is the host team for this year’s tournament. Smith, who is playing left wing for London, has no points in his first three games for the Knights.

Goaltender Max Lagace (free agent/2012) was traded for the second time this season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Shawinigan traded Lagace to Sherbrooke.
