Texas Stars Report
The Texas Stars won two of three games last week, improving to 14-3-1 over their last 18 games.

The Texas Stars won two of three games last week, improving to 14-3-1 over their last 18 games. Texas sits atop the West Division with a 25-11-5 record and is two points behind Grand Rapids for the top spot in the Western Conference.

The Stars play Grand Rapids twice this week. Both games are at Cedar Park Center, where the Stars play their next seven games and have won a franchise-record 10 straight.

And Colton Sceviour, Travis Morin and Curtis McKenzie continued to rack up the points for Texas.

Here’s the latest on Dallas’ AHL affiliate.

Wednesday, January 15: Texas 4, Rochester 1

The Stars ran their home winning streak to 10 games with a 4-1 win over Rochester at Cedar Park Center on Wednesday. Cristopher Nilstorp stopped 26 of 27 shots. Matej Stransky and Justin Dowling both had one goal and one assist. Jyrki Jokipakka and Taylor Peters also scored. Texas outshot Rochester 49-27 in the game.

“We just really came out hard. We played a good 60 minutes,” said Peters. “Speed is our game. When you have speed you get time, and when you have time you get shots off.”

Friday, January 17: Texas 7, Charlotte 1

The Stars ran their overall winning streak to four games with a 7-1 victory in Charlotte. The Stars’ top line had a big night. Travis Morin registered five points (one goal, four assists), Colton Sceviour picked up three points (two goals, one assist) and Curtis McKenzie had four assists. Morin tied the franchise record for points in a game and both he and McKenzie equaled the franchise record for assists in a game. Chris Mueller also tallied twice in the game. Dowling and Mike Hedden scored as well. Nilstorp played the first two periods, and then with Texas holding a huge lead, gave way to Josh Robinson to start the third. Robinson then left the game late due to a skate problem. Nilstorp ended up with 18 saves on 19 shots. Robinson stopped all 10 shots he faced.

Saturday, January 18: Charlotte 6, Texas 1

The Checkers turned the tables on the Stars on Saturday, blowing out Texas 6-1 in Charlotte. McKenzie scored the lone goal for Texas. Nilstorp got the start in goal, but was pulled in the first period after allowing three goals on 12 shots. Robinson played the rest of the way and stopped 24 of 27 shots.
