TV: Fox Sports Southwest

About the Stars

The Stars (24-20-8) won their third straight game, defeating Pittsburgh, 3-0, at American Airlines Center on Saturday. The Stars scored twice on the power play in the game and Kari Lehtonen stopped 24 shots for his second shutout in the last three games.

“Their team is really good and we were able to play a lot better than them and work harder and dominate the power play and penalty kill,” said Lehtonen. “Just overall great effort.”

The Stars have outscored their opposition 14-1 during the three-game winning streak.

“These last three games have all been really good, a real top to bottom complete effort so we just have to keep it going,” said Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski.

Monday’s game is the fourth of the Stars current five-game homestand.

Forwards Jamie Benn and Alex Chiasson did not practice Sunday. Both were off the ice for maintenance, but are expected to play on Monday.

Injuries: D Stephane Robidas (leg) is out.

About the Avalanche

The Avalanche (32-14-5) are coming off a 5-2 loss at Tampa Bay on Saturday. After a scoreless first period, the Lightning built a 3-0 lead in the second. Colorado cut the lead to 3-2 late in the second, but the Lightning put the game away in the third.

“We gave ourselves a real opportunity,” said Colorado forward John Mitchell. “We ran out of time in the second period. If we had a little bit more time on the clock, we had all the momentum going our way. Give credit to them, they came out and played a solid third period.”

The loss was the second in the last three games for Colorado, which is 9-3-1 over its last 13 games.

Monday’s game concludes a three-game road trip for the Avalanche, who are 1-1-0 in the first two games of the trip.

Injuries: G Jean-Sebastien Giguere (back) is day to day. D Cory Sarich (back) and LW David van der Gulik (head) are out.
