Dallas Stars Sign Forward Ryan Garbutt to a Three-year Extension
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed forward Ryan Garbutt to a three-year contract extension. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Garbutt, 28, has posted a career-high 18 points (10-8=18) in 46 games for Dallas this season. Amongst team leaders, he is third in hits (81), fourth in shots (105), and sixth in both goals (10) and plus/minus rating (+4). On the season, he has set new single-game career highs in points (3, two times, Nov. 26 vs. Anaheim, 1-2=3; Jan. 15 vs. Edmonton, 1-2=3) and shots on net (8, Dec. 1 vs. Edmonton).
In his third NHL season, Garbutt has recorded 31 points (15-16=31) in 102 regular season games, all with Dallas. He has also appeared in 115 career regular season American Hockey League games, with Chicago and Texas, registering 70 points (35-35=70).
“Ryan has shown that he is an effective, hard-hitting forward that plays the game with a great deal of speed and tenacity,” said Nill. “Over the course of the season, he has earned the trust of his coaching staff and has played himself into a role where we ask him to play against our opponent’s top players on a nightly basis. It’s a great credit to the work he has put in and we’re excited to have him signed.”
The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was originally signed by Dallas as a free agent on July 1, 2011.
