The Dallas Stars are on a nice little run, winning five of their last seven games (5-1-1) and keeping pucks out of their net has been a big part of it. In all five of those wins the Stars have allowed one goal or fewer and in three of those games they’ve allowed no goals.
“It’s just working hard in your own end. The guys are coming to play every night, everyone is working hard and it’s fun to be a part of,” Stars forward Ryan Garbutt said after Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Phoenix. “If you’re winning games every night it doesn’t matter what the score is. You just come out and battle every night. If you are in those close games you have to battle even harder. It’s pretty easy when you have a goaltender like Kari Lehtonen in net.”
The Stars have allowed nine goals over the last seven games for an average of 1.29 per game. They’ve allowed just 23.7 shots per game during that stretch. And their team save percentage is .946 over the last seven games.
“I think we’ve been skating well. We’ve been wearing the other team down with our speed and tenacity. That’s what keeps us in the game every night and made us win tonight.”
