Rich Peverley Attends Friday\'s Game

Stars forward Rich Peverley attended Friday night’s game against the Flames and received a big ovation when shown on the video screen at American Airlines Center during the first TV timeout.

“It was awesome,” said Stars captain Jamie Benn. “The crowd gave him a great ovation there. You probably had 20 smiling faces on the bench there.”

Peverley, who watched the game from a suite, was shown on the video screen as the UT Southwestern Medical staff was being recognized for its efforts in saving Peverley’s life when he collapsed due to a cardiac event in Monday night’s game against Columbus at the AAC.

Peverley, who will undergo a season-ending heart procedure soon, is scheduled to travel Sunday to Cleveland, where he will meet with doctors on Monday.

Lehtonen update

Stars coach Lindy Ruff provided another update on Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who has been out since last Saturday with a concussion.

“He’s better, he’s going to practice. Not quite ready to get back into action but I could see early next week his being ready to play,” Ruff said.

Center Cody Eakin, who missed Friday’s game with a lower body injury, is day to day. Shawn Horcoff who missed the game with an upper body injury is expected to be “a little bit of time,” according to Ruff.
