Stars-Flyers Notes

Here are some quotes from the Dallas Stars following their 4-2 loss in Philadelphia that ran their winless streak to four games (0-3-1).

Stars coach Lindy Ruff on if the team can take something out of this game

“There is a lot. We didn’t give up a lot in the game. We gave up four goals but we didn’t give up four goals on a lot of opportunities or a lot of zone time. I thought our puck movement was good. We had a break away, we didn’t score, they had one and they did score. The margin of victory in the game, that game could have went either way, real fast.”

Ruff on the play of goaltender Tim Thomas

“I think Tim would like a couple back. There was a couple tough ones in there he knows he’d take back in a heartbeat.”

Tim Thomas on Wayne’ Simmonds goal off the rush that put the Flyers up 3-1

“He hit the seven-hole on me. That’s a save that I should make. The team really needed it at that time. I really feel bad for the guys with the game that they played. Sometimes that’s hockey, but I can guarantee I’m going to be better for the guys from here on out.”

Thomas on how tough it is for the Stars right now

“It’s tough but at the same time, we played a lot better tonight. I think our compete level was better, our battle level was better and we’re going to put it all together here. I have confidence in Kari [Lehtonen] when he plays that he’s going to get the job done and if I get the chance again, I’m going to win.”

Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon on the game

“I think tonight was a step in the right direction. We’ve had stretches this year where we’ve been really good and then stretches where we’ve just been that one goal away, that one play away. But tonight I think we played pretty well and there’s just a couple of key goals that they scored at certain times of the game. For us, we’ve been struggling with just giving up too many chances against and I think tonight we got better.”
