Stars-Blackhawks Preview

Dallas Stars at Chicago Blackhawks
Tuesday, March 25
7:00 p.m.
TV: Fox Sports Southwest
Radio: The Ticket 1310 AM/96.7 FM

About the Stars

The Stars (34-26-11) won their second straight game, defeating Winnipeg, 2-1, at American Airlines Center Monday night. Kari Lehtonen stopped 32 shots and Ray Whitney and Tyler Seguin scored power play goals.

"I thought we played well. I was a little concerned that we missed some great opportunities in the first period. When you get those opportunities you can really get a team down,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “But I thought we stayed with it. We played sound defensively. We had a few breakdowns but special teams won us a game. Our goaltender made some big saves when we needed them."

The Stars moved to within one point of Phoenix for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Stars have one game in hand on the Coyotes, who play at Pittsburgh Tuesday.

Injuries: F Erik Cole (upper body) and F Rich Peverley (irregular heartbeat) are out.

About the Blackhawks

The Blackhawks (41-16-15) are coming off a 2-0 loss to Nashville in Chicago on Sunday. The loss snapped a four-game points streak for the Blackhawks, who are six points behind Central Division leading St. Louis. Chicago lost three of four to Nashville this season.

"Obviously, we know points are at stake," Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith said. "We want to keep getting those points and we left two on the table tonight, but for whatever reason we've had trouble against these guys. I can't pinpoint what it is. We've played good games the last little while and we've played good team games, so I don't know. It's tough when you don't score a goal to win the game."

F Patrick Kane has missed the last two games with a leg injury that was expected to keep him out three weeks.

Highly touted forward prospect Teuvo Teravainen, Chicago’s first round pick (18th overall) in 2012, could make his NHL debut Tuesday vs. the Stars.

Injuries: LW Bryan Bickell (upper body) is questionable. D Michal Rozsival (lower body) is doubtful. F Patrick Kane (leg) and G Nikolai Khabibulin (shoulder) are out.
