Dillon, Nemeth Game-time Decisions for Friday

The Dallas Stars held a meeting Thursday morning in Frisco and then a small group of players went through an optional skate.

Among the players on the ice was defenseman Brenden Dillon, who has missed the first four games of the playoffs with a lower body injury. Whether Dillon will play in Game 5 Friday is still up in the air.

“Dillon I believe will be a game-time decision, which is as close as you can get tomorrow,” Ruff said.

This was Dillon’s third straight day skating with the team. Dillon said he’s feeling better each day and whether he plays Friday will be up to the medical staff and Ruff.

“Hopefully,” Dillon said when asked if he thinks he can play in Game 5. “If I am going to be in I want to be able to help the team. Things are getting better and better. Keeping tabs with the doctors and the medical staff. They’ve done a tremendous job monitoring me and making sure I’m getting the best treatment I can. Dave Zeis (head athletic trainer), Lindy and I will get together and see if I can play tomorrow.”

Defenseman Patrik Nemeth, who left Wednesday night’s game after the first period with an upper body injury, was not on the ice for Thursday’s optional practice. Ruff said Nemeth will be a game-time decision as well on Friday.

Off to Anaheim

The Stars headed to Anaheim Thursday afternoon, feeling good about things after taking Games 3 and 4 in Dallas to tie the series at 2-2. But they know that in order to win the series they’ll have to find a way to win a game in Anaheim.

“The mood is good, positive,” said Stars forward Shawn Horcoff. “I think we worked hard to get back in the series. We did what we need to do to hold serve at home and in order for us to win the series we’re going to have to go in there and find a game somehow. We had a good meeting this morning, refocused and we’re ready for a better effort tomorrow.”

“It’s a brand new series,” said Stars center Tyler Seguin. “Two out of three here. For us to be successful and win this series we’re going to have to take one on their ice eventually. We have to take this period by period, game by game and that’s our focus right now.”

Game 6 Sunday to start at 7 p.m.

The Stars’ win on Wednesday guaranteed there will be a Game 6 in Dallas on Sunday. The NHL has announced the start time for that game. It will be at 7 p.m. Central Time. The game will be televised locally on Fox Sports Southwest.
