Dallas Stars Release 2014-15 Regular Season Schedule
The Dallas Stars will open the 2014-15 National Hockey League regular season at home on Thursday, October 9 against the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Dallas Stars will open the 2014-15 National Hockey League regular season at home on Thursday, October 9 against the Chicago Blackhawks. The team will then embark on the first road trip of the season, a three-game set against the Nashville Predators (Oct. 11), Columbus Blue Jackets (Oct. 14) and Pittsburgh Penguins (Oct. 16).

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE 82-GAME SCHEDULE

The Stars are scheduled to play 82 games during the 2014-15 campaign, with 41 contests at home and 41 on the road.

Dallas plays in the NHL's Central Division of the Western Conference along with the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets. They will play a total of 29 games against their division foes, with 14 games taking place at home and 15 on the road.

As in years past, most weeknight home games will commence at 7:30 pm, with select contests starting at different times to accommodate television needs.

The home portion of the schedule features 18 weekend contests (5 Friday, 11 Saturday, 2 Sunday).

The Stars longest homestand of the season is five games, which happens from Nov. 18-28. They will play Carolina (18th), Phoenix (20th), Los Angeles (22nd), Edmonton (25th), and Minnesota (28th).

Dallas' longest road trip of the season spans five games, from March 5-13, playing Florida (5th), Tampa Bay (7th), Philadelphia (10th), Carolina (12th), and Washington (13th).

Dallas concludes the road portion of their season on Wednesday, April 8 at Anaheim, before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 11 against the Nashville Predators.

The Stars schedule breaks down in the following format:

vs. Division Opponents (29 Games):
Five games vs. five teams (2 home/3 away) vs. Chicago, Colorado and Nashville; (3 home/2 away) vs. Minnesota and St. Louis.

Four games vs. one team (2 home/2 away) with teams rotated on a yearly basis (Winnipeg this season).

vs. Western Conference Opponents (non-division, 21 Games):
The Stars will play their other non-division Western Conference opponents 21 times (Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose, Vancouver), facing off against each club three times (2 home/1 away vs. three teams; 1 home/2 away vs. four teams).

In total, Dallas plays 50 games against their Western Conference foes.

vs. Eastern Conference Opponents (32 Games):
Dallas will faceoff against each Eastern Conference team two times this season (1 home/1 away), ensuring that every team will play in every building at least once this season.

In total, Dallas plays 32 games against their Eastern Conference opponents.
