Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn was named an NHL First-Team All-Star on Tuesday, marking the first time in Benn's career that he was been named to the NHL First All-Star Team.

Benn becomes the first player in Stars franchise history to be named a First-Team NHL All-Star. The Stars have previously had five players earn All-Star honors, with each being named to the Second-Team (Zubov - 2005-06; Turco, Hatcher - 2002-03; Modano - 1999-2000; Bellows - 1989-90).

Benn established new career-highs in goals (34), assists (45) and points (79) during the 2013-14 regular season. The left wing finished the campaign tied for eighth in the NHL and ranked second on the Stars with 79 points (34-45=79) in 81 regular-season games. Benn also led Dallas with a career-high +21 plus/minus rating.

Named the sixth captain in Dallas Stars history on Sept. 19, 2013, Benn finished the regular season tied for seventh in the League and shared first on the club with 42 points (18-24=42) on home ice, while his 18 goals at home were tied for ninth in the NHL. The forward made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut this season, finishing first on the Stars with four goals and second with five points (4-1=5) in six postseason contests.

The native of Victoria, British Columbia made his Olympics debut at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, where he helped Team Canada win the gold medal. Benn scored two goals in six games in Sochi, including the game-winning tally against the United States to advance to the gold medal game.

The 6-foot-2, 210-poind forward was originally selected by Dallas in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft. Since making his NHL debut in 2009, Benn has amassed 272 points (116-156=272) in 344 regular-season contests.

Voting for the All-Star Team was conducted by members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the regular season.
