Dallas Stars Sign Right Wing Patrick Eaves
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed right wing Patrick Eaves to a one-year contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Eaves, 30, recorded five points (2-3=5) in 30 regular-season contests with Detroit and Nashville last season. The winger opened the 2013-14 campaign with Detroit, posting five points (2-3=5) in 25 games before being traded to Nashville, where he played five games.
"Patrick is a smart and disciplined, two-way player who plays a high-tempo game," said Nill. "His speed and versatility will fit in well with our style of play and add great depth to our forward corps."
The Calgary, Alberta native has tallied 146 points (74-72=146) in 444 career NHL games with Ottawa, Carolina, Detroit and Nashville. Eaves has made six appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs during his nine-year NHL career, registering 13 points (6-7=13) in 67 career postseason contests.
The 6-foot, 187-pound right wing was originally selected by Ottawa in the first round (29th overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft.
