FRANK PROVENZANO - ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Frank Provenzano begins his seventh season as assistant general manager for the Stars. Provenzano assists General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk in all facets of the day-to-day operations of the hockey department, with his main responsibilities including contract negotiations, salary cap management, schedule making and the administration of the NHL's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Previously, Provenzano served as assistant general manager for the Washington Capitals from 1997 to 2004, and was an assistant in the Vancouver Canucks' hockey operations department from 1994 through 1997. The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., worked as a commentator specializing in salary cap analysis for TSN, a sports network in Canada, during the 2005-06 season.
Provenzano, 43, played varsity hockey at Queens University in Kingston, Ont., and graduated in 1991 with dual bachelor's degrees in physical and health education and physiology/anatomy. He then obtained his masters degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., during which time he was selected to participate in the International Business Exchange program at the Manchester School of Business in Manchester, England. In his spare time, Provenzano practices the stick fighting martial art of Juego del Palo, where he has attained Grand Master status in the Quintero style. He and his wife, Julie, reside in Dallas.
