Seguin’s Stars

On December, 29 2012. in his hometown of Brampton, four of Tyler Seguin's closest friends from childhood got into a motor vehicle accident when they lost control of the car on an icy road. Tyler’s best friend, Derrek Moseychuk, suffered a broken neck and as a result is now a quadriplegic.

In honor of Derrek, Tyler started Seguin’s Stars. Seguin’s Stars partners with the Southwest Wheel Chair Athletic Association (SWAA) and brings wheel chair bound people of every age to watch a Dallas Stars game from a luxury suite. After each game Tyler meets with his guests where he signs autographs and takes photos in order to get to know them on a personal level.

Seguin’s Stars has introduced many people to the game of hockey who have never experienced it. On a much deeper level Seguin’s Stars has inspired many to try the game of sled hockey. It has given the SWAA the opportunity to get children actively involved in the sport and introduce them to others who are dealing with some of the same issues.
