Richard Bachman (RIH-chuhrd BAWK-mahn) is entering his second NHL season and his fourth in professional hockey. Although relatively new to the NHL ranks, Bachman has a reputation as a goaltender who has succeeded at every level of hockey. In his freshman season at Colorado College, he was selected as the WCHA Rookie of the Year. He was later a runner-up as Goalie of the Year in his first professional season with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads. As a member of the Dallas Stars, he became the first rookie goaltender in Dallas history to start seven consecutive games and the first to win his first three NHL starts. He also shutout the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, becoming the first Stars goaltender to do so since Gump Worsley in 1972. Bachman is the only Utah-born goaltender in NHL history and one of only four players overall to hail from the state. .
