Season Series -- This is the lone meeting between the teams this season. Dallas earned a 2-0 victory against Atlanta on Jan. 27 behind a 25-save performance by Marty Turco at the American Airlines Center.
Big Story -- Despite winning only three of their last 10 games, the Stars are managing to remain in the race to the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Marc Crawford's club has appeared in more overtime games than any team in the League, which has translated into points in the standings.
Stars -- Dallas concludes its five-game road trip at Atlanta, and the hope is things go better on Thursday than Wednesday, when the Stars suffered a 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center. Dallas had earned points in its previous five games (2-0-3).
"We're having a hard time playing 60 minutes," said forward Mike Ribeiro, who had three assists. "Something has to change. Sometimes we get off to a good start and tonight it was the first (period in which we struggled). We have to be better."
Thrashers -- After picking up a 3-2 shootout victory against the Rangers in New York on Monday, Atlanta stumbled on Wednesday in a 4-3 loss at Florida. The Thrashers were less than two minutes away from earning at least a point as they erased a 3-0 deficit in the third period, but Michael Frolik notched the game-winner for the Panthers with 1:21 remaining in regulation.
"For some reason, our third period is the best this year," Thrashers forward Vyacheslav Kozlov. "We've come back (in some games) to win in the third. So far we're not in the playoff zone and we're trying to make some points."
Who's Hot -- Stars forward Loui Eriksson has a goal and six assists in his last six games. … After scoring only once in his previous nine contests, Kozlov has goals in each of the last two games for the Thrashers.
Injury Report -- Dallas defenseman Trevor Daley suffered an upper-body injury during Wednesday's game and did not return, which likely makes him questionable for Thursday. … Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen (back) is expected to return later this month.
Stat Pack -- Atlanta goalie Johan Hedberg is 15-3 lifetime in shootouts following Monday's win against the Rangers. Hedberg, who could be Henrik Lundqvist's backup at the Olympics, is 9-4 this season.
Puck Drop -- "We have no consistency. We'd love to get a little streak going here. We still have six or seven games in December to turn it around." -- Stars forward Brenden Morrow
