DALLAS (AP) - Marty Turco got a lot of help from his Dallas teammates after making an early mistake against Phoenix.

Turco made 17 saves and Sergei Zubov scored the first of Dallas' four straight goals to help the Stars end a season-worst, three-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Coyotes on Monday night.

Turco gave up a soft first-period goal to Dave Scatchard before settling down behind tight team defense. Turco had been pulled in three of his previous six games and had allowed eight goals in the last 22 shots he faced.

"There was a lot good, old-fashioned hard work out there," Stars coach Dave Tippett said. "If you want to stop the bleeding, that's a good place to start."

Zubov scored in the first period, Jussi Jokinen, Brenden Morrow and Jason Arnott added second-period goals and Mike Modano had two assists for the Stars.

Curtis Joseph stopped 31 shots for the Coyotes, who won four of their previous five.

Phoenix got off to a positive start with the help of a misplay by Turco on the Coyotes' fourth shot of the night. Scatchard was dumping the puck into the Coyotes' offensive zone from just inside the blue line, but the shot was on net and got through Turco's pads at 6:13 for the game's first goal.

But Turco didn't have many close calls the rest of the way, pushing his record to 23-13-2.

"It was almost a blessing in disguise," Turco said of the blue-line goal. "Battling after that is not easy, especially after what's happened. But we continued playing our game and didn't let it get to us."

Zubov's goal from the high slot with 1:23 left in the first period tied it at 1.

In the first minute of the second period, the forechecking Modano took possession off a turnover on a bad clearing pass by Phoenix defenseman Ballard. Modano fed Jokinen, who scored from the left circle 41 seconds into the period.

"It was going to be a matter of time before it happened," Modano said. "We played a solid game from start to finish. We were smart and made the most of our opportunities."

Morrow's goal off a rebound at 4:46 of the second period made it 3-1.

The Coyotes had a chance to get back in the game 1:09 after Morrow's tally with a 5-on-3 power play, but Phoenix didn't get a shot off during the 1:18 of its two-man advantage.

"We didn't take advantage of a 5-on-3 against a good team," Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky said. "We have to at least get a shot on net. That was pathetic."

Arnott banked a pass into the net off a sliding Oleg Saprykin of the Coyotes, who was trying to block the puck, and Dallas had a 4-1 advantage at 14:00 of the second.

Notes: Dallas D Janne Niinimaa was scratched because of a sore ankle. ... Phoenix LW Mike Leclerc remains out with a knee injury, but is expected to be back in the lineup later this week. ... The Stars were outscored 15-7 in their three previous games. ... Phoenix's Geoff Sanderson had an apparent third-period short-handed goal disallowed when replays showed that his shot hit the crossbar.
