DALLAS (AP) -Marc-Andre Bergeron capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play in the first period, then Dwayne Roloson and his defense did the rest to give the Edmonton Oilers a rare win in Texas.

Roloson stopped 22 shots for his second straight shutout to help the Oilers end Dallas' six-game home winning streak with a 2-0 victory over the Stars on Friday night.

"He was unreal," Oilers defenseman Matt Greene said of Roloson. "He's been doing that all year for us. He makes every save he should."

Roloson had his 21st career shutout as Edmonton improved to 4-19-2 in regular-season games in Dallas since the Stars moved from Minnesota in 1993.

"We have had our struggles here, but it's been different eras with a couple of different teams," Oilers' coach Craig MacTavish said. "I don't think there was ever a time when this building was easy for anybody."

Raffi Torres also scored for the Oilers, who've won three straight and are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games.

Stars goaltender Marty Turco was coming off back-to-back shutouts, but the Oilers got the power-play goal midway through the first period and never allowed Dallas to gain momentum. Turco finished with 13 saves.

"As a team, we played a great defensive game," said Roloson, who improved to 14-8-2. "Our defensemen were making good blocks. We won because we played such a great defensive game, from the defense all the way out to the forwards."

With 1 second left on the two-man advantage, the Oilers got the game's first goal when Bergeron's blast from the top of the right circle got through Turco's pads at 11:13 of the first period.

"Our 5-on-3 has been good lately," Bergeron said. "It gives us lots of momentum either way. Taking advantage was a huge part of this game."

Seconds before Bergeron's goal, MacTavish called a timeout to reorganize his power play. It didn't take lone for Turco's shutout streak to end at 154 minutes, 19 seconds.

"I wanted to settle everybody down and work on one play," MacTavish said.

Torres struck from the slot at 2:51 of the second period.

Once the Oilers got the lead, they settled into a defensive mode, getting off only five shots in the last two periods and blocking 26 shots for the night.

That's the kind of defensive style the Stars usually employ.

"They did a good job of getting in the way of our shots and giving us few opportunities," Stars forward Stu Barnes said. "But we need to find a way to get the puck to the net and get some scramble situations."

Edmonton started the night as the league's top penalty-killing team, and the Oilers showed why when they kept the Stars scoreless over two minutes of a 5-on-3 Dallas power play in the second period. Dallas failed to convert on five power-play chances.

The Oilers tried to limit long-range shots by Stars defenseman Philippe Boucher, who had four power-play goals in Dallas' last four home games.

"We took away their threats. We took away the one-timer to Boucher," MacTavish said. "I've seen him score lots of goals on their 5-on-3."

The Stars, shut out for the third time this season, were minus four of their top forwards: leading scorer Mike Modano (hip flexor/groin injury), captain Brenden Morrow (groin), Eric Lindros (bruised foot) and Antti Miettinen (lower-body).

"We have a lot of premier players out," Turco said. "But that's not an excuse. We had a good idea what (the Oilers) wanted to do, and they carried it out."

Out for the Oilers were Ryan Smyth (fractured right thumb), Ethan Moreau (dislocated right shoulder) and Ales Hemsky (right shoulder).

Notes: Edmonton has allowed one goal in its last three games. ... Dallas RW Chris Conner was called up from Iowa of the American League and made his NHL debut. ... Roloson earned his third shutout of the season. ... Stars D Darryl Sydor, an Edmonton native, was sworn in as a U.S. citizen in Dallas earlier this week. ... Dallas had killed 15 straight short-handed situations before Bergeron's goal. ... Tippett said he doesn't expect any of his injured players to return for Saturday night's road game against Phoenix.
