Ducks looking to dispatch Stars with Game 6 win
Anaheim Ducks vs. Dallas Stars

DUCKS at STARS

(Anaheim leads best-of-7 series 3-2)

TV: NBCSN, TSN2, RDS2, PRIME, FS-SW

Big story: The Anaheim Ducks have a chance to put away the Dallas Stars after beating them 6-2 at Honda Center on Friday. But the Ducks know they can't take anything for granted; not only did they lose Games 3 and 4 in Dallas, they failed to close out the Detroit Red Wings a year ago in a similar situation.

"We learned an expensive lesson last year," coach Bruce Boudreau said Saturday. "Anything can happen in a Game 7."

Team Scope:

Ducks: Not only did Anaheim's three-goal burst early in the third period Friday turn the game into a rout, it enabled Boudreau to avoid taxing captain Ryan Getzlaf, who had a goal and two assists after missing Game 4 with an upper-body injury. Getzlaf saw 19:51 of ice time but was planted on the bench for the last 11:20. He told the media Saturday he expects to be ready to go in Game 6.

"I was in the lineup last night and should be tomorrow," he said when asked how he was feeling.

Anaheim was beaten twice in Dallas and is determined to avoid a third straight loss, one that would send the series back to California for a seventh game.

“When you corner a bear or whatever, they fight the hardest,” Boudreau said. “That experience with most of the guys that were here last year, I hope works for tomorrow. We don’t want to wait for a seventh game if we can help it. Obviously Dallas wants to push it as far as they can go.”

Stars: Dallas looked like a young team in Game 5 and paid the price for a lack of discipline. Anaheim scored four times on the power play, negating the Stars' advantage when the teams were playing 5-on-5.

Coach Lindy Ruff said he'll make adjustments to the power play, which was 0-for-7 on Friday and is 2-for-24 in the series.

“We’re going to change that up. It’s not working,” Ruff said Saturday. “The units are going to change. I think we’re getting a little bit of net focus and there’s not enough deception and I think that comes with frustration from not scoring. So that part is going to change.”

The Stars are eager to get back to American Airlines Center, which was full and loud for Games 3 and 4.

"We feel like we can do well at home, and we have to really do that tomorrow and keep our hopes alive that we can move on," goaltender Kari Lehtonen told the team's website. "I think that makes everybody a little bit more comfortable after a bad game like that. The next game is at home, and we've done well there in the past."

Forward Ryan Garbutt was fined $1,474.36 by the NHL for spearing Anaheim forward Corey Perry in Game 5.

Who's hot: Getzlaf had a goal and two assists Friday and leads the series with seven points (three goals) despite missing a game. … Stars captain Jamie Benn had a shorthanded goal Friday and has scored in each of the past three games.

Injury report: Ducks defenseman Stephane Robidas (broken leg) will miss the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Forward Tim Jackman (broken hand) is out, but the Ducks might have forward Matt Beleskey (lower body) back in the lineup. He hasn't played since leaving Game 1. … Stars defenseman Patrik Nemeth (upper body) sat out Game 4.
