DALLAS (AP) _ The way his teammates dominated the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco didn't have to extend himself to earn his 18th career shutout.

Jere Lehtinen and Pierre Turgeon scored power-play goals, and Turco stopped 14 shots in Dallas' 4-0 victory Sunday.

``I had a heck of a good seat,'' said Turco, who had to make only a handful of tough saves to post his sixth shutout of the season. ``It's fun watching when the guys play like that.''

Mike Modano and Brenden Morrow added goals for the Stars, who extended their season-best, home-unbeaten streak to eight games (6-0-2) and are 11-3-2 overall in their last 16.

The Mighty Ducks, who eliminated the Stars from the Western Conference playoffs last year, are 2-2-2 against Dallas this season.

``That was a tough, tough game for our team,'' Mighty Ducks coach Mike Babcock said. ``We didn't respond at all. The bottom line is their best players were so much better than ours, it wasn't even funny. I hate to say it, but this is the playoffs for us.''

Dallas, which held a 29-14 shots-on-goal advantage, moved four points behind first-place San Jose in the Pacific Division. The Ducks, who reached the Stanley Cup finals last season, are in 12th place in the West _ nine points out of a playoff spot.

``You're aware of the standings every day,'' Stars coach Dave Tippett said. ``There are a lot of teams ahead of us and behind us scratching for points. If we take care of business, we'll be in good shape.''

The Stars got the only goal of the first period at 17:29 when Lehtinen scored his 10th on a deflection of Richard Matvichuk's shot from the left point.

Modano made it 2-0 at 8:10 of the second period, notching his 12th on a one-timer from the left circle.

Morrow scored his 18th with 19:06 left, pushing a loose puck over the goal line after it got through the pads of goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Bill Guerin had an assist, his 600th NHL point.

Turgeon extended the advantage to 4-0 with 11:52 remaining with his ninth goal when the puck went in off his skate. The goal was upheld after a video review because Turgeon didn't use a distinct kicking motion to send the puck into the net.

``I definitely knew it was good,'' Turgeon said. ``I didn't kick it. I just drove hard to the net and didn't even see the puck coming.''

The Mighty Ducks had been 6-2-0-2 in their previous 10 before Sunday's lackluster effort.

``We never showed up,'' Giguere said. ``As a team we didn't do anything. There's no excuses for that. We need to be desperate. We've got to give ourselves a chance to win. Today we didn't do that.''

Meanwhile, the Stars continue to move up the standings after hitting bottom with an 11-15-3 record in early December.

``Our defense is moving the puck well and our forwards dominated,'' Tippett said. ``All 19 players contributed, which is a good sign for us.''
