DALLAS (AP) - Jason Arnott is going to be disappointed when he looks at the Dallas Stars' schedule.
There is only one more game against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks between now and late March.
Arnott scored twice in the third period Wednesday night in a 3-1 win that was Dallas' third victory over the Mighty Ducks in 11 days. In one of the victories last week in Anaheim, Arnott had a hat trick.
``He can be a horse. He's so big and so strong,'' Stars coach Dave Tippett said. ``When he gets a head of steam, he's hard to defend. He's using all the tools he has.''
Phillipe Boucher's shot from the left point was deflected by Bill Guerin and then Arnott in bang-bang fashion, and the puck slid under goalie Ilja Bryzgalov at 7:34 of the third period to put the Stars up 2-1.
The Stars were only 16 seconds into a power play about nine minutes later when Arnott passed to Guerin for a shot that was blocked. But Arnott knocked the rebound in for his 10th goal - half of those in his last two games against the Ducks.
The Stars and Ducks play again Jan. 6, their only meeting until the Pacific Division foes face each other four times between March 20 and April 6.
``It was a scrambling game,'' said Arnott, who wouldn't elaborate on his success against the Ducks. ``There wasn't any flow. The game was chopped up by penalties, but we still found a way to win.''
Brenden Morrow also had a goal for Dallas, which has won five straight and eight of nine.
Teemu Selanne scored for Anaheim, which lost for the ninth time in 10 games. The only victory during that stretch came in Phoenix on Tuesday night.
``We've got to get more people involved and play four lines,'' coach Randy Carlyle said. ``We had our chances, but we didn't get the job done.''
Anaheim played without forward Todd Fedoruk, suspended for three games without pay Wednesday by the NHL a day after he drew a match penalty for a hit on Coyotes center Petr Nedved. Fedoruk left his skates to hit Nedved with an elbow, a shot that appeared to be in retaliation for a hit moments earlier.
Guerin assisted on all three Dallas goals. Three minutes before Arnott's go-ahead tally, he had a close-range shot that got past Bryzgalov but hit the crossbar.
With Jean-Sebastien Giguere missing his fourth game with a strained hamstring, Bryzgalov stopped 24 of 27 shots. Marty Turco had 20 saves, including all 11 Anaheim shots in the second period.
Arnott's second goal gave the Stars at least three goals in their 13th straight game, matching the second-longest streak in team history. It's the longest streak in the NHL since the Tampa Bay Lightning had at least three goals in 15 straight from Feb. 5 to March 6, 2004.
Dallas was playing for the first time since a 6-3 victory over Columbus on Friday, when Arnott had two assists. That followed consecutive games in Anaheim.
Turco stopped 40 of 41 shots when the Stars beat the Ducks 3-1 the first time Nov. 13, and Arnott had a hat trick in a 4-2 victory three days later.
Dallas tied the latest meeting 1-all in the second period on Morrow's power-play goal, the 12th straight game in which the Stars have scored with the man-advantage. That matches the second-longest streak in team history, still well short of the record 17 in a row in 1986.
Morrow's seventh goal (fourth on a power play) came on a pass from Trevor Daley, who was about to skate behind the net when he pushed the puck to Morrow.
Selanne third score in four games put Anaheim up 1-0 in the first period when his shot from the right circle slid through Turco's legs.
Notes: The Stars have scored power-play goals in 12 straight games two other times (1982 and 1987). ... The Stars have two 14-game streaks with at least three goals (1982 and 1986). ... Morrow has points in four straight games (two goals and four assists).
